Caption reads: "Painted by the distinguished French artist Charles Hoffbauer, this mural is in the Battle Abbey, headquarters of the Virginia Historical Society, Richmond, Virginia. It shows General R. E. Lee surrounded by the Confederate high command: 'Stonewall' Jackson, Joseph E. Johnston, J. E. B. Stuart, Fitzhugh Lee and others. It is one of a series of four murals depicting symbolically the vicissitudes of the Confederacy." Postcard number: 1DK-596, R-22.
