Caption reads: "Fredericksburg was the scene of two battles and a devastating bombardment during the Civil War. Within a circle of ten miles around the town, more men were killed and wounded than previously had been on any similar area in the world." Message reads: "Dear Mother, Arrived in Va to-day.
