Gateway to Digitized Maryland Newspapers

The Gateway to Digitized Maryland Newspapers is a resource that compiles information about Maryland newspapers that have been digitized and are accessible online. Our goal is to provide a central location for users to find digitized Maryland newspapers and provide links to the websites that host them.

Search

Enter your keyword search in the box below. Keywords could include the newspaper title, the city or county of publication, or the name of a website that hosts digitized newspapers (e.g., Chronicling America, Maryland State Archives, ProQuest, etc.). On the results page, you will be able to further narrow your search results.

About

This website does not host digitized newspapers. Rather, it provides links to digitized newspapers on external websites. Some websites require a subscription in order to access their newspapers. You may be eligible to access those databases through your local public library, historical society, academic institution, or employer, or by purchasing a subscription.

If you are unsure of your eligibility to access databases through the University of Maryland (UMD), please see the Borrowing Privileges page.

UMD students, faculty, staff, research affiliates, and retirees are able to access subscription databases to which the Libraries subscribe from off-campus. Use the Reload Button to easily gain access to newspaper databases for which we have a subscription.

For additional information see Maryland Newspapers at Maryland State Archives.
